Eye Examination

Your eye examination will be carried out by a qualified Optometrist using the latest technology enabling us to screen for ocular and systemic conditions that may require treatment.

Our practice offer both NHS and Private examinations. Many people are now entitled to eye examinations on the NHS.

Private Examinations

We provide all our private patients with a comprehensive eye examination carried out by an optometrist. This involves a sight test plus all the additional procedures, which may be needed to establish that your eyes are healthy. For example, detailed binocular vision assessment, slitlamp biomicroscopy, visual field analysis and digital retinal camera, which photographs the back of the eye.

NHS Patients

The National Health Service pays for certain people to have a sight test. We support the aims of the NHS and provide NHS sight tests to those eligible. If you prefer, you can pay a small extra charge and receive the full comprehensive eye examination to include the retinal photography. A fee of £16 is payable for this.

Children's Eye Care

Information and advice on children's eye care as they grow. Children's eye examinations are free of charge through the NHS up to the age of sixteen and up to the age of nineteen if in full-time education. Children also receive a NHS Voucher towards the cost of their glasses.

In line with NHS legislation a qualified optician will always be available to dispense and adjust children's spectacles.

VDU

*Since 1993 EC legislation has placed responsibilities on employers whose employees regularly use VDUs as part of their work. These regulations are also designed to protect users who may work for an employer from home, or any other location which is not the employer's main office.

We have established links with local companies to conduct their employees VDU examinations, with a full written report for their employers, and would welcome any new enquiries from other companies.

We provide home visits within 2 miles radius of the practice for the housebound.

Contact Lenses

Here at Walker and Campbell we spend time to ensure you have the most comfortable contact lenses to suit your particular needs.

Your initial trial gives you the chance to try out contact lenses first. You will be shown handling and care of your lenses, and after your initial assessment, you will be given a free supply of lenses to trial for a 1-2 week period.

We have all brands available including daily, coloured and multifocal.

As a registered Acuvue Centre of Excellence, we are able to offer you new lenses before they are launched to the public, and with advantageous prices which we can pass on to our patients.

Spectacles

We offer a comprehensive selection of frames and lenses for all ages. We stock many leading designer names:

Silhouette, Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, Morgan, Diesel

As well as a full range of stock for the more conservative tastes:

Menrad, Hans Stepper, Henry Beaumont

To make choosing a frame easier we have a "Vision Control Imaging System".

Lenses

With the new lens technology that is available we can offer the best lenses to suit your prescription and requirements. From thinner lighter lenses to Varifocal and Computer lenses (ideal for office use!)

We are a registered Varilux Specialist Centre. This offers fully guaranteed lenses with a 3 month exchange period.

Prescription Sunglasses

It is important to protect your eyes against harmful ultra-violet rays. Here at Walker & Campbell we have an attractive range of sunglasses which can be made to your individual prescription including polarised lenses.
